Connecting Wiley with Perplexity | DEPRECATED

The Wiley connector on Perplexity is being deprecated in favor of their new PDFA offering. Please contact your Wiley representative to get access if you don’t have it already.

Step 1: Create a Cashmere Account

  1. Navigate to https://cashmere.io/accounts/signup/ to create an account

  1. The email address does not need to belong to a specific individual if you are signing up for an organization, but it does need to be valid and capable of receiving emails (i.e for identify verification and account notifications).
  2. Once your account is created, it will be empty since your licenses have not been assigned yet.

Step 2: Activating licenses in your account

  1. The next step is to connect your Wiley licenses with your Cashmere account. Send an email to [email protected] with the following information:
    1. The email address you used to sign up for Cashmere
    2. OPTIONAL—Which collection licenses your institution needs access to.
      1. If you don’t have this readily available, it isn’t required—but it can expedite the confirmation step with Wiley
  2. Once Cashmere receives this information, they will manually connect the licenses to your Cashmere account. Depending on how quickly Cashmere can confirm the licenses with Wiley, this may take 2-24 hours.
  3. Once the licenses have been assigned, you will be notified via email, and you can proceed to Step 3 below

Step 3: Enabling the Wiley Connector on Perplexity

  1. When logged into your Perplexity account as an Org Admin, click to enable the Wiley Connector

  1. Your browser will be redirected to the Cashmere OAuth flow

  1. If you aren’t already logged in, it will prompt you to do so.

  1. Once you’ve logged in, select your Content Provider (Wiley in this instance)

  1. Select which collections of content you’d like to make available for consumption in Perplexity

  1. Finalize authorization

  1. Once you complete the flow, it should say “Connected” in Perplexity next to the Wiley connector.

  1. With this last part completed, Perplexity will need to now index your content for your organization. Depending on the volume of content you’re pulling in from Wiley, please allow up to 8 hours for indexing to complete
  2. Once the indexing is complete, you’ll be able to include Wiley content in your Perplexity search experience by enabling the Wiley data connector in the search box
